Blog Action Day 2007
Blog Action Day is October 15th, a day when bloggers from around the world unite to post on the same issue at the same time. In 2007 the event reached out to an audience of over 15 million RSS readers and many more web visitors.
19 of the Technorati’s top 100 blogs participated in the day, leading the way for more than 20,000 bloggers. The impact was felt throughout the blogosphere, rocketing up mentions of the word “Environment” on the day.

Support
It gained the support of the United Nations Environmental Program, who in a statement said “UNEP welcomes the simple yet powerful concept of Blog Action Day and calls on bloggers around world to participate”.

The EU’s Commissioner for the Environment Stavros Dimas held a special live internet chat to coincide with Blog Action Day. A blogger himself, Dimas said afterwards:
Dear bloggers, Thank you for the very broad range of questions and commentaries you’ve sent in this afternoon. It has been a fine way to mark international Blog Action Day and your strong interest greatly encourages me in my work!
Through corporate blogs, logo changes, notices to their customers and clients, many companies participated in 2007, including:
- Wells Fargo
- AOL/Weblogs Inc.
- eBay
- Yahoo
- Six Apart
- Opera
