Envato is visiting a few cities in Europe this month for something called EuroTour. We asked a few of our hosts to tell us a little about themselves and their city. Our third interview is with AudioJungle author Oscar Lindstein, aka Stockwaves who is hosting a meetup in Stockholm, Sweden.
How did you get started at Envato?
I uploaded a bunch of random music that I had produced earlier. Trial and error!
What does a typical day look like for you?
Lots of feeding, cleaning, picking up toys, playing with our kids (0 and 4 yo). Days when our oldest is at daycare, we typically record a track or two, mix and upload the day after. An hour a day or so is spent on email and admin.
Kids are great! With them around, where and how do you work best?
In darkness, silence and solitude! 🙂
Stockholm is a musician’s paradise, what do you like about working there?
Well, it’s the capital of Sweden, but still fairly small compared to many other capitals. Easy enough to get around in, or go around (except during rush hours). I guess there’s a little something for everyone, as long as you know what you’re looking for. Also, the water, the air, the people… it’s a beautiful city!
What’s your favorite spot in Stockholm?
Actually I tend to avoid the inner city mostly these days, but I do try to play squash regularly at the Roslagshallen court. Great thing about Stockholm is you don’t have to travel far to get close to nature and more peaceful surroundings. The archipelago in the summer is very nice.
What’s your biggest challenge right now as an artist/author on Envato?
What do you think is the next big thing for the industry?
Streaming – “peak stream” is still to come. But bigger than that (and farther away), A.I. compositions, fully synthesized vocals and on-demand virtual reality artists.
What are you working on now?
Making more music of the sort that has proven worthwhile, and learning more about new different market niche opportunities.
Catch up with Stockwaves, some Envato staff, and many other authors at our Stockholm meetup on Tuesday, June 13th at Himlen Skybar.
